In early `93 we planned on a trip to Medford OR. to see the Grandkids and showoff our new airplane. Norma packed us a nice lunch that we can enjoy in flight. The flight only lasted 4 hours but we did not have lunch, the basket could not be reached from the forward cockpit through the head rest roll structure.Like the lady in the "Movie" that vowed never to be hungry again, Norma turned to me and said"Do something about that" and I did. I removed the head rest leaving only the frame.I added foam to the frame to increase the thickness,approx.1 1/2",then I layed up 15 layers of BID to the entire frame making sure I over lapped to the turtle back. I then made a couple of adjustable auto type head rest and mounted it to the seat back. The tinted area you see on my canopy is an "Insta-Cling" window film I picked up at Walmart. This is a flexible and reusable film that clings to the plastic without adhesive,I wanted my canopy to be as clear as possible and still offer some sun protection to my rapidly becoming unprotected head.
