RETRACTABLE PITOT TUBE

I WENT THROUGH THE USUAL GROWING PAINS WHEN IT CAME TIME FOR THE PITOT TUBE INSTALLATION. THE OUESTION OF WHERE TO MOUNT IT. THE NOSE SEEMED TO BE THE IDEAL SPOT AS THERE IS NOTHING IN FRONT OF IT TO DISTURB THE AIRFLOW BUT, ITS POSITION WHEN PARKED MAKES IT VULNERABLE TO BEING STEPPED ON BY TWO LEGGED CRITTERS AS WELL AS A HANDY PLACE FOR MULTI LEGGED BUGS TO CRAWL INTO.AFTER LOOKING AT A LOT OF OPTIONS I DECIDED TO KEEP IT IN THE NOSE BUT AWAY FROM  ALL THE AFORE MENTIONED PITOT DESTROYERS, MAKE IT RETRUCTABLE,YA! SURE, GOODLUCK!.
  

THE FIRST PIC. PITOT EXTENDED, THE SECOND THE PITOT RETRACTED.  PANEL DISPLAY RED LIGHT ON, PITOT RETRACTED AND PULL KNOB TO EXTEND THE PITOT. I USED A PLASTIC PROTECTING CUP USED IN AUTO AIRCONDITIONING TO PROTECT FILL POINTS,SILICONE INTO THE NOSE AND SPLIT FOUR WAYS TO ALLOW THE TUBE TO EXTEND AND SEAL WHEN THE TUBE IS PUSHED IN.

I MADE THE PITOT TUBE OUT OF TELESCOPING BRASS TUBES THAT YOU CAN GET FROM ANY HOBBY SHOP. THE INNER TUBE IS 1/4" OD AND THE OUTER IS 5/16"OD WITH .O25 WALL. THE WASHERS FOR THE SPRING AND TO LIMIT PITOT STROKE IS SOLDERED IN PLACE.I MADE "D.F.AND G" AS A SUBASSEMBLY WITH "F" SLOTTED TO ALLOW FOR ADJUSTMENT. NOW COMES THE FUN PART, I MOUNTED (STUFFED) ALL THESE INTO THE CAVITY BETWEEN NG-31 AND F-6, THAT IS AFTER I CUT OUT THE TOP OF THE NOSE FOR AN  ASSEMBLY AND INSPECTION ACCESS.THE DARNED THING WORKS!!
